Three Simple DIY Techniques for Keeping Stress Blemishes at Bay

When life gets overwhelming and stress levels rise, minimizing anxiety is key in keeping blemishes at bay.

When we're under a lot of pressure mentally, our bodies react the same way they would if we were under physical attack, releasing the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol.

According to Mayo Clinic, when we don’t take time to de-stress these hormones release continuously and do all sorts of bad to the body including creating digestive problems, headaches, anxiety, depression, and weight gain.

Stress also shows up on the face as oil production increases. Excessively oily skin can lead to acne and enlarged pores. To keep acne flare-ups at bay, apply Oxygenating Acne Control Foundation to unclog pores while camouflaging redness with flawless coverage.

Keep reading for 3 of the best do it yourself stress-relieving techniques that you can do at home to instantly recenter and relax.

DIY Facial Massage

We tend to hold a lot of tension in our faces, especially around the eye area and forehead areas.

You will be amazed at how much calmer you feel after performing this DIY facial massage.

Facial Massage Step by Step:

1 - Begin by sitting in a comfortable position with your back straight and both feet planted on the ground. This balances your spine and energy centers while allowing for the deepest relaxation.

2 - Close your eyes and take in 3 deep breaths as you slowly but firmly massage your temples in circular motions.

3 - Using gentle pressure, push upwards on the hollow of your brow bone.

4 - Apply pressure to either side of your nose at the same time.

5 - Move to your outer jaw bone and massage using circular motions.

6 - If your hairstyle of the day permits end with a scalp massage using your fingertips in circular motions on the sides, top, and back of your head.

DIY Hand Massage

Another way to de-stress instantly is to practice simple awareness. This can be done by focusing on our surroundings or connecting with the body.

By focusing on something outside our thoughts, we are able to be fully present without worrying about what we need to do or what has already been done.

A great technique for this is giving yourself a relaxing hand massage. Pull out your Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix to rejuvenate your hard-working hands with powerful hydration and rejuvenation. The aloe vera barbadensis in Hydro-Matrix will soothe your skin while Hyaluronic Acid and PCA attract moisture to the skin for lasting hydration.

Hand Massage Step by Step:

1 - Begin your hand massage by working your Hydro Matrix into the skin. Apply more as needed.

2 - Using your right thumb, apply pressure to the palm of your left hand in circular motions.

3 - Turn your hand over and place your right thumb in the space where your left pointer finger and left thumb meet. Apply as much pressure as you can. This is a great pressure point for relieving headache tension as well.

4 - Massage the back of your left hand with your right thumb. Slide your thumb between the finger bones.

5 - Gently squeeze each finger on the left

hand with your right hand’s fingers. Move up and down each finger.

6 - Use the exact same techniques on the other hand.

7 - Enjoy the present moment and your freshly hydrated skin!

DIY Aromatherapy

Our sense of smell not only works to interpret odors, but it also affects our emotions as we attach memories and feelings to different smells. Aromatherapy is a great way to de-stress instantly.

How-To Steps for Aromatherapy:

1 - Choose a calming essential oil to use or spice things up with a customized blend of your favorite oils. Some common essential oils for relaxation include lavender, rose, clary sage, sandalwood, bergamot, rosemary, cedarwood, and patchouli.

2 - Put 2-3 drops of your essential oil onto the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together and hold them up to your nose. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Hold your breath as long as is comfortable and slowly release. Repeat at least 2 more times.

3 - Apply your essential oil mixture to your neck and chest while breathing deeply.

Use an essential oil diffuser for long-lasting benefits. Simply put 3-5 drops of your calming essential oil in the diffuser with water and enjoy the therapeutic aromas throughout the day!

The quickest way to use essential oils for aromatherapy is by simply taking off the cap of your favorite oil and breathing in the aroma with your eyes closed. Take multiple long deep breaths for optimal relaxation.

By taking time out of your day to relax and rejuvenate you will find you become more productive, happier, and healthier! Your skin will certainly thank you for it too.
